Welcome to the website for the Spokane chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League.

The JACL is a national organization founded in 1929 and is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States.

The Japanese American Citizens League is an organization whose ongoing mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and bigotry. The leaders and members of the JACL also work to promote cultural, educational and social values and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American Community.

_Hosted by the Spokane Buddhist Temple at the Davenport Hotel, including workshops in English & Japanese, two services and a banquet on Saturday night with a special guest: Mrs. Karen Akahoshi, daughter of Rev. Terao, founder of the Spokane Buddhist Temple. She will speak about growing up in the temple as the daughter of a minister and tell us about the early days of the temple. After the banquest we have a performance of Spokane Taiko and dancing music.

Highland Park United Methodist Church:  Mochi orders may be picked up at Highland Park UMC, 611 S Garfield on Thursday, February 9th noon - 3:00 p.m. or Sunday, February 12th 10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.  You may call to verify your pre-order with Ayako Tanaka at 228.0271 or you may place your mochi order by calling HPUMC at 535.2687.  Cost is $5.00 per package.
